Born in St Catherine Jamaica and residing in Toronto Canada, self-taught Artist D’we exploded onto the Art Scene at “Freedom Fest 88”; and was one of the up and coming artist to watch out for. He has continued to grow throughout the years producing works that is striking and compelling. 
D’we sees his art as an expression and synthesis of many things both external and internal as he captures the essences of “Blacks and Nature”. 

His works explores various mediums and extrude forms from the surface of the Canvas/Wood. “As knowledge accumulates one’s medium changes”, he eloquently states. His arts projects the spectrum between subtle and shocking, making his exhibition truly unique.

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES

   Spending many years as a pupil of African Studies and seeing himself as a “Citizen of the World”; D’we has obtained and extensive knowledge of the history of Art and Literature connecting the phrase “A picture paints a thousand words”, from the Sangoan to Pyramid Era onward. 
D’we is committed to teach his audience Art and Literature, taking a position of self-determination and discovery.

   
D’we was commissioned to teach and Art Program at Marist College in Poughkeepsie NY and the Langston Hughes Institute for the Visual and Performance Arts, in Buffalo.
As part of his many contributions to the Arts, D’we has written a Book on the “Art of Glyphs to Words”, titled “Ham’s High Eye Queue”; and has teamed up with Matumbi Arts Institute on the “Through the Eye of the Pygmy” interactive art show project.
